Confusables Practice
Short practice rounds on everyday workplace word choices that are easy to mix up.
Before you start
Draft for review. The sentences and explanations are still waiting for human editorial review, so some wording may change.
Each question shows one workplace sentence. You decide whether it is correct as written. If a word needs to change, you find that word and choose its replacement. Every question ends with a short explanation, whether you were right or not.

How a question works
- Read the sentence and decide whether it is correct as written.
- If a word needs to change, choose that word. Nothing is highlighted for you.
- Choose what should replace it.
- Read the feedback and the explanation, then move on.
Word families
Every round takes a question from each family.
- your / you're
- there / their / they're
- its / it's
- then / than
- accept / except
- affect / effect
- could of / could have
- lets / let's
- lose / loose
- who's / whose
Scoring
Each question is worth one point. A point is earned when every step of the question is answered correctly. If an early answer is wrong, you can still finish the question and read the explanation, but that question does not earn its point. The score is only a way to follow your own practice. It does not measure general ability or job performance.
Your answers stay in this page
The practice does not ask for your name, has no accounts, stores nothing in your browser and sends your answers nowhere. It uses no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts. The page is delivered by a web host, which handles ordinary request information such as your IP address, as any website does.
Your answers are kept only while the page is open. Refreshing or closing the page clears them and starts over.
